Crafted in the Hills of Tamba
Nestled on the high ground above the Tachikui pottery village, Shōyō-Gama is a family-run kiln carrying forward the long tradition of Tamba ware. Working side by side across generations, they shape each piece using techniques rooted in one of Japan’s oldest ceramic regions.
From their hilltop workshop overlooking the Tamba mountains, the makers draw quiet inspiration from the landscape. Their pieces reflect this calm spirit — simple, honest forms crafted for everyday enjoyment.

Makers of Everyday Beauty
Shoyo Gama creates pieces that feel natural in the hand, sit beautifully on the table and suit both modern and traditional settings. Their work spans from practical daily-use vessels to expressive studio pieces, all crafted with the same care for balance, texture and usability.
Every object carries the warmth of family craftsmanship and the quiet character of Tamba clay. Whether used for your morning tea or shared meals with loved ones, these pieces invite a gentle pause and a deeper appreciation of everyday rituals.
