This Soribachi Icicle bowl by Shinkougama has been given a new life through kintsugi repair.

Originally handcrafted in Mino, Gifu, the Icicle series is known for its softly layered glaze, moving from pale cream and icy grey to deeper charcoal tones. The repair follows the bowl’s original fractures, tracing a branching network of metallic lines across the inside, rim and exterior.

The warm metallic lines sit beautifully against the cool-toned Icicle glaze, creating a subtle contrast that changes as the bowl is viewed from different angles.

Kintsugi is a time-intensive process requiring patience, skill and careful judgement. Each repair is completed by hand to achieve both strength and balance. Our pricing reflects the time, materials and craftsmanship involved, and supports the continuation of these practices.

Each repaired piece is completely unique, as no two breaks or repairs are ever the same.

To preserve the repaired areas, we recommend gentle hand washing and avoiding dishwashers or prolonged soaking.

Due to the delicate nature of Kintsugi repairs, it’s important to handle your piece with extra care. The gold or silver-filled cracks are part of the piece's unique character, but they can be more fragile than the original ceramic. To preserve the beauty of your Kintsugi item:

Avoid using it in the microwave or dishwasher.
Gently hand wash with a soft cloth and mild detergent.
Store in a safe place away from heavy impact or direct pressure.

As with all handmade pieces, expect some variations in the appearance, making each item one-of-a-kind.

Characteristics
Each Kintsugi piece has its own distinctive pattern and repair, reflecting the art of mending with gold or silver. These pieces may show slight variations from the images, making every item unique.

All of our products are handcrafted/hand finished. Therefore there may be variations in colour, texture, shape and some imperfections. We truly believe these add character to each piece and what make them unique.

In the situation where the item you receive is faulty, you will be entitled to a refund or exchange. Please allow up to 5 business days for the refund to be processed.
